Who We Are

Altimood is run by two state-certified professional mountain guides (Accompagnateur en Montagne – French national diploma) based in the Southern French Alps.

Our mission: to inspire you to wake up in the mountains.

We are Alice and Robin, your direct contacts when you reach out to Altimood. Our passion for mountains, combined with deep knowledge of alpine environments and the Southern Alps, is at the heart of every experience we offer.

We personally guide every trip we organize—no intermediaries, no subcontracting.

Our Values

We build our guiding practice around experiences that:

Invite immersion, understanding, and respect for fragile mountain environments
Gather small groups for genuine connection with landscape and each other, while ensuring safety
Take a playful and educational approach to hiking and nature discovery
Prioritise local accommodations, and meals made from organic, local, seasonal ingredients
Adapt to changing conditions—including winters with less snow

Where We Guide

Southern Alps map

Our home base lies in the Southern French Alps, between Gap and Grenoble along the historic Route Napoléon:

Valgaudemar – Écrins National Park (western edge)
Dévoluy – the "French Dolomites"
Briançon, Queyras & Ubaye: Wild, high-altitude ridges stretching into Piedmont, Italy.
Vercors – dramatic limestone plateaus

Getting here: To reach us, travel to Grenoble or Lyon (via TGV train or flight). We provide seamless transfers in our 9-seat vehicle, offering group carpooling from the station or airport directly to the trailheads.

Iconic Expeditions : Beyond our home range, we lead curated treks in the most legendary corners of the Alps, including the Tour du Mont Blanc, the Swiss Alps, and the Italian Dolomites.

Our Story

2019: Alice and Robin co-founded Pied Vert, a mountain guide collective in Vercors, developing nature outings for schools, families, and corporate groups.

2022: We moved from Vercors to the Écrins and launched Altimood—bringing our experience to wilder, more remote terrain with a focus on immersive multi-day adventures.

Today: We've built partnerships with local refuges, farms, and mountain professionals to offer authentic experiences rooted in this landscape.
