While the Tour du Mont Blanc is one of the most iconic routes for hikers, the Dolomites and their famous Alta Via trails rival the TMB in both renown and scenic grandeur.
From Bolzano in the Alto Adige valley to the legendary Tre Cime di Lavaredo, this 10-day trekking adventure takes you through the unmissable highlights of the Dolomites—far from the crowds—along trails where you can truly appreciate the landscapes that have made these Eastern Alps world-famous.
The route traverses massifs classified as UNESCO World Heritage sites, alternating between high-altitude refuges, hotels, and spectacular scenery. You'll immerse yourself in the unique world of dolomite, the limestone rock that tints the mountains with pink hues at sunset—a phenomenon called Enrosadira.
The Dolomites require some travel planning. You'll likely arrive the day before and may want to spend a few extra days in Cortina or Venice. Plan for 2 weeks (14 days) to fully enjoy this escape into the Italian Alps.
This trek is designed for experienced trekkers with excellent physical condition. Daily stages range from 5.5 to 6.5 hours of walking, with elevation gains up to 1,300m. Passages on equipped trails (easy via ferrata) and high altitude (up to 2,600m) justify the confirmed technical level (4/5).
Accommodation exclusively in mountain refuges requires adaptation to rustic comfort and communal living. If you need single or double rooms, our deep knowledge of the Dolomites allows us to propose a variant tailored to your needs (contact: heyaltimood.com ).
Alpine weather can change rapidly and requires flexibility and appropriate equipment.
